Classic Garage Thursday: Shadows of Knight-Shake

3 Feb

Today’s song for CGT comes from Shadows of Knight, the darlings of Chicago’s mid 60’s garage scene.  Though Shadows of Knight were known mostly for their hit version of Them’s “Gloria,” they were much less interested in making hits and much more interested in playing the blues.  But if you look hard enough, you can find them straying away from Bo Diddley and competing with Small Faces or covering Solomon Burke. Check out this great video for “Shake,”  a song that shows flashes of Steve Marriott as well as 96 Tears.
